Check out some of the great press we’ve been receiving recently about our 50th Anniversary Project. You can read the article below, or go to RememberThePark.com for more information on our Signature Anniversary Project.
“EAST LANSING – If you are a parent or grandparent and a fan of Patriarche Park, the East Lansing Rotary wants to talk to you.
The members of the club are coordinating a major community project to revive the wooden play structure in the park.”

On Monday, 21 March, the East Lansing Rotary Club took time to award 3 community members with Vocational Service Awards. These awards are given every year by the club, to members of the community we feel portray the Rotary ideals of ‘Service above Self”.
The three recipients received plaques commemorating the occasion, as well as recognition from the club with a program dedicated to them. The recipients, in alphabetical order, were Rob Patterson, Ken Mannie, and John Wood.

Our President, Jackson Kaguri, was featured in a great LSJ article Sunday. He will be visiting New York to sit on a panel in front of the United Nations. Read a blurb here, and follow the link to read the entire article!
“OKEMOS — During his studies at Columbia University in New York City, Jackson Kaguri did some work with the United Nations.
But the Okemos resident, author of “The Price of Stones: Building A School for My Village”, couldn’t have imagined he would one day speak before the international body.
Kaguri will do so on Monday, Feb. 28 as part of a panel on “Partnering With the Philanthropic Community to Provide Education for All”. The conference is sponsored by the U.N.’s Economic and Social Council..”

Fellow Rotarians: As you know, The Rotary Club of East Lansing is celebrating its 50th anniversary during 2010- 2011. The renovation of the existing Playground-in-the-Park structure at Patriarche Park has been chosen as the Club’s “Signature Project” for this anniversary year. The cost of the playground renovations has been estimated at upwards of $50,000.
One way that you can help is to make a donation to support this project. Pledge cards are available from any member of the Fundraising Committee. So far, 20 members have pledged or contributed over $6,000 toward this effort. In addition, our East Lansing Rotary Foundation has committed $10,000; for a total of over $16,000.
Contributions of $100 are recognized with a special 50th anniversary Rotary pin. Contributions of $600 or more are recognized with the pin and 2 tickets to the Club’s 50th anniversary celebration slated for September 28, 2011. Gifts above these amounts will include additional acknowledgements.
Your pledge can be accompanied by a check or we can bill you for it; whichever is most convenient for you. Checks should be made payable to “East Lansing Rotary Foundation.” We are also working to add another payment option – PayPal. Look for this link to our Foundation soon on the Club’s website – www.eastlansingrotaryclub.com
Can we count on you to join us in supporting this effort? We look forward to receiving your response and would be pleased to answer any questions you may have about this project.
Thank you for your consideration.
