New member being inducted into East Lansing Rotary

Joining the East Lansing Rotary

Being an integral part of the community is important to the members of the East Lansing Rotary.  Maintaining close ties with city leaders, business owners, and the institutions which make East Lansing a unique and richly diverse community provides many opportunities to serve and enhance the place we call home.  If you believe that investing in a community such as this, a membership in this service organization could be for you.

Deciding to Join

You are encouraged to seek out a current East Lansing Rotarian to sponsor you into the club,or you may contact our membership chair by e-mailing eastlansingrotaryclub@gmail.com and indicating your interest in exploring membership in our club. To that end, you are welcome to be a guest of the club for three visits as you gain a sense for the culture of our club and the responsibilities and benefits that come with membership. This is also a good time to meet various members and Board Members and to seek out a sponsor for membership. At the end of your third visit you may ask for an application.

Applying for Membership

After presenting your application for consideration, the Board of Directors reviews the application and votes on whether or not to advance your application for circulation among all the members.  If there are no objections or concerns regarding your application you will be notified, and in short order inducted as a new member at a subsequent meeting.  Shortly after induction it is essential to go through an official orientation to help you decide on the kinds of service contributions you can make as an active member.

Criteria for Membership

Rotary International, and by extension our own club, take pride in maintaining a  highly principled organization and we are looking for those individuals that represent similar values in their life and work. (For example: See the 4 Way Test on the home page) Other issues that may affect consideration are your business classification – we strive to have a balance of professions represented; your personal and business reputation, and availability to attend and participate regularly.

Getting Started

You may reach out to the Membership Chairperson or any Board Member to express your interest in exploring membership. Make a date to begin your visits so that we can be sure that you are warmly welcomed. Visit the contact page and use the form, or simply call or email any member of the leadership team listed on the contact page.
