Matt Smego, Michigan Farm Bureau

Matt Smego is a native of Cass County in southwest Michigan where grew up on his family hog and cash crop farm near Cassopolis. He is a graduate of Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agri Sciences. Matt is a 20-year veteran of Michigan Farm Bureau where he began his career as a regional representative in the thumb area of Michigan. Since that time, he has held numerous positions and now services as the manager of government relations, representing the organization on environmental, higher education and general law related issues.
Matt has worked on various legislative initiatives including: adoption of the great lakes water resources compact, wetlands reforms and adoption of the Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program into state law. Matt and his wife Holly have two children and live in Grand Ledge Michigan.
